Get started with built-in AI

Sign in and choose a model

1. Sign in from the desktop app and follow the browser flow back to OpenFiles.
2. Open AI chat and find the OpenFiles built-in group in the model selector.
3. Choose a model for your task and send a short question to check availability.

Check credits

The built-in service uses OpenFiles credits. If you see a low-balance message, follow its link or open the website dashboard to review your balance and usage. Check the current interface for available models and prices.

Your own provider follows that provider’s configuration and billing. Selecting a custom provider does not automatically use your OpenFiles balance.

Files and network access

Cloud AI requests send your question and relevant context to the selected provider. Check that file content is suitable to send. Local file viewing and cloud AI chat use different data paths.
